Firefight by Brandon Sanderson (Science Fiction)

Imagine having Kool Aid as your weakness! Well unfortunately Sourcefield's weakness is exactly that. This book starts off when the Reckoners fight Sourcefield, an Epic, who are people with special powers. Flying, shooting lasers out of their hand, illusions, basically just about anything. There's a special category for strong epics called High Epics who have prime invincibility, which makes them hard to kill. For example they have regeneration, self reincarnation,  impervious skin, etc. You get the idea right? Basically they're hard to kill. But every Epic has a weakness to them that can negate their powers. Now back to the story, the Reckoners (people who rebel against the epics and kill them) found out that Sourcefield was sent by High Epic, Regalia. This book is about a teenager named Todd on a planet called "New World" trying to escape from an army. But on this planet, a sickness caused all woman on the planet to die, and the remaining men to be able to hear other's thoughts. But one day Todd finds a place that is completely quiet but when he thinks about that place in his mind everyone finds out and creates an army to catch him and find the secret place. While he is running away, he was surprised to meet a girl named Viola because he thought all females died because of the sickness. Together they go to a place called Farbranch but the army soon catches up to them and destroys the village. As they keep going, they reach another village and Todd meets his guardian Ben from his town and for the first time learns about the truth of the world and is told to go to a place called Haven. Where the Red Fern Grows' is an adventurous story of a young boy named Billy and his two coonhound dogs. This book is an autobiographical fiction where the author uses a lot of events from his personal life. The main character of this book, Billy Coleman has long dreamt of owning not one but two dogs for hunting. So, he works hard and saves up enough money to buy two pups. His dogs are delivered to a place twenty miles away and decides to walk up to get them. On his way back home with the two dogs, he ends up naming them 'Little Ann' and 'Old Dan' after seeing the names carved on a tree. Billy teaches the dogs to hunt with some help from his grandfather. In no time Billy and his two dogs become well known for their hunting in the Ozarks. During the nights, Billy and his dogs go hunting for coons, splashing through water, running through thick bushes to tree a coon. They become a good team. While all of this is happening, Scythe Faraday stays secretly alive. He goes to the Great Library of Alexandria where all scythe journals are kept.
