This is the 6th book in the Anne of Green Gables Series. Anne and Gilbert have moved from their House of Dreams, into a bigger house, Ingelside, close by. Anne has already given birth to James Matthew (Jem), Walter Cuthbert, Diana (Di), Anne (Nan), Shirley, and and new baby, named Bertha Marilla (Rilla), is on the way. Anne's little children go on many adventures, and learn a lot of new things in the book. Jem is the oldest of all the children. He loves dogs, and wishes to be a pirate when he grows up. The main adventures that happen with Jem, are that Jem learns a sad lesson about pets. He also sends the town on a fright. Everyone thought he ran away, because he had threatened to if he could not go out with his friend, Bertie Shakespere. Little did they know Jem never left the house. Walter is imaginative, like his mother, and loves the family bird, Cock Robin. Walter's biggest adventure happens when Anne was going into labor. All the kids were sent away, Walter was sent to the Parkers. The Parker children tell him that Anne is sick, and going to die. Walter runs home in the middle of the night, and arrives at Ingleside at 2:00 A.M. Di has red hair, and grey green eyes, similar to her mother. Di's adventure is about how she disobeyed her parents and went to Jenny Penny's house after they told her no. Di goes anyway, and nobody goes to get her, because her parents are out of town, Susan has a strained ankle, and the boys refuse to go. One of the Penny's frightens Di, and she falls and does not open her eyes or move. The Penny children are convinced that she died, so the carry her back home in the middle of the night so they are not blamed for the 'murder'. Nan has brunette hair, and hazel eyes. Her adventure was how she learns an important thing about praying. One day, Anne comes down with pneumonia, and Nan prays to God, saying if he makes Anne better, she will walk in the graveyard at night. Anne becomes better, but she is scared to do it, and she tells Anne about her "deals". Shirley is a boy who loves to play in their spot, Rainbow Valley. Rilla also loves to play in Rainbow Valley.
I loved Anne of Ingleside a lot. I would rate this book five out of five stars. I think you will love this book no matter your age, favorite genre, favorite author or any other preferences, but you will especially love this book if you love little adventures, humor, real life problems, and relatable content. Anne and her children never have a dull moment in Ingleside. I thought this book was nice, because instead of one main plot, this book was full of many smaller ones, as mentioned in the book review, and many more. One thing I did not especially love about this book was how you don't hear as much from Anne. In the other books you hear only about Anne, and never any other character. In this book you seem to hear more about Anne's children, and its rare when you do hear from Anne again. Still, this book can make you want to laugh out loud, feel happy, sad, and you will definitely be able to relate to it. This book was my favorite book in all the series. I enjoyed it a lot. After reading this book, you will find yourself hooked, and already onto the next book.
