One of Us Is Next by Karen M McManus (Mystery)

The town of Bayview is still recovering from the tragic death of Simon Kelleher. Meanwhile, several gossip apps have popped up throughout Bayview High in Simon's legacy. When this next one is created, kids think it will just be like the others. It might share some ""secrets"" that were never really secrets at all and then last for about a week. But this app is not like the others.
This time it's truth or dare. Pick a truth, and painful secrets will be revealed throughout the school. Pick a dare and you have to complete a menacing challenge. Phoebe, Knox, and Maeve's lives seem to crumble when their secrets spread through the school. Everything seems to become so horrible that kids can come to only one conclusion: Always pick the dare.
But the flaws in this statement shine through when Brandon Weber dies completing a one. Brandon died when he fell through the roof of an abandoned building he was about to jump off of, and investigators don't think this was accidental. Knox witnessed this all and ended up with a concussion that leaves him not even remembering a thing. Even with the concussion, he knows what the other witness's are saying isn't true.
So now Knox, Phoebe, and Maeve are determined to find out what really happened. The three begin to connect the dots when they steal an important video from another witness, track down Phoebe's stalker, and save a wedding party from being bombed- literally.
When they finally figure out who the murderer is, they'll have to choose between giving answers to those who need them, or protecting the ones they love.
I loved this book! I enjoyed how it was a continuation of the first book, just with different characters. Like in the first book, it was nice being able to see the story from different character's perspectives. It allowed me to not only get a better understanding of each of the main characters, but see the story in different ways. I also loved how each chapter was filled with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Anybody that likes a good mystery would love this book! It's a complicated and interesting mystery that I think would be interesting to really anyone no matter what genre they generally enjoy. Anybody that also likes action-packed stories would love this book as well. There never seems to be a dull moment in the town of Bayview!
This book definitely made me think from different perspectives. The mystery was complicated but really got me thinking, especially with the cliff hangar at the end. I felt like a detective as I tried to figure out the mystery along with the characters.
The only thing I did not like about the book was that there wasn't much of a love story. Even in the first book I felt that there was more of a spark between the characters than in this one. I think I would have loved the book even more than I already do, if the main character's relationships were focused on more throughout the story.
Overall, this book was a fantastic read. If you enjoyed the first book, you should definitely read this one because it really is a great a continuation!"
