Firefight by Brandon Sanderson (Science Fiction)

Imagine having Kool Aid as your weakness! Well unfortunately Sourcefield's weakness is exactly that. This book starts off when the Reckoners fight Sourcefield, an Epic, who are people with special powers. Flying, shooting lasers out of their hand, illusions, basically just about anything. There's a special category for strong epics called High Epics who have prime invincibility, which makes them hard to kill. For example they have regeneration, self reincarnation,  impervious skin, etc. You get the idea right? Basically they're hard to kill. But every Epic has a weakness to them that can negate their powers. Now back to the story, the Reckoners (people who rebel against the epics and kill them) found out that Sourcefield was sent by High Epic, Regalia. Regalia ruler of Babylon Restored( formerly known as Manhattan) can manipulate water. So when she first came she entirely flooded Manhattan because Epics can just basically do whatever they want. Regalia has been sending quite a lot of Epics to try and kill them. So the leader of the Reckoners, Prof, decides to pay a visit to her. It turns out Prof had known Regalia before and they were friends back before Calamity (when an unknown star appeared above earth and people randomly gained powers). The Reckoners go to Babylon Restored, meet up with a different group of Reckoners and start a plan to kill her. After meeting up with the other group of the reckoners they find out Megan, a traitor of the Reckoners, has killed a person and they learn that she's somewhere here. While David is training he meets with Regalia and she tells how Calamity is actually an Epic and that she can speak to her. She then tells Calamity to give David Epic powers. David doesn't accept the power to become an Epic. After the encounter the Reckoners hit on High Epic Newton. David kills Newton finding out her weakness was being complimented. David also realizes that Epics powers are connected to what they are afraid of. David meets Regalia again this time intending to kill her and he finds out a shocking truth. He thought that Regalia lured Prof to kill her but it turns out she wanted a successor because Regalia had cancer and had little time to live. Will the plan work or will David be able to stop it? Find out in Brandon Sanderson's stunning book Firefight.

I loved this book by Brandon Sanderson. It's always full of plots twists you would never expect. I mean who would of thought a persons weakness can be Kool-Aid? It was really cool to see how characters change the way they think throughout the story. I also enjoyed how there was several types of genres like science fiction, mystery, adventure, comedy and little bit of romance. From the start to the end I was really engaged and the details really made me feel like I was in their world watching what was happening. I also liked how there were many conflicts throughout the story like fighting Sourcefield and Obliteration, or stopping Regalia's evil plan. I mean who likes a book with no conflicts? Eww BORING! I feel like anyone can enjoy a book that constantly keeps you startled, and you can enjoy all different types of genres. I had absolutely no reason to like this book. If you have ever read the book Scythe by Neal Shushterman, I think you will like this book because its similar but make sure to read this first book before moving on to this because there will be some parts that you might be confused like each person's background and why they are the way they are. I think you will be able to see the characters change from the first book to this book its really cool and amazing. I really hope you enjoy this thriller!
