Monday's Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson (Fiction)

Monday’s Not Coming is a fictional book that talks about a girl named Claudia and her best friend Monday. The book goes through the childhood of both girls and their difficulties in middle school. They have a rough time because of boys and the fact that Claudia struggles in school. Claudia has always noticed that something is a little off with Monday when she's around her mom. Suddenly one day Monday starts having scratches and bruises over her body, but she tells Claudia it's just from her little brother. Claudia is Monday's best friend, and she can tell when she's not telling the truth. Claudia goes to her grandmas for summer break before 7th grade, when she gets home, she's excited to call her best friend but… she doesn't answer. She calls her again and again but still is unable to reach her. Claudia knows Monday loves school so she's sure she'll show up for the first day, but Monday doesn’t show up and neither do her siblings. This is around the time where Claudia gets suspicious and worried for her best friend, but her mom tells her to stay out of their business because she too feels something is off about Monday's mom. But Claudia just can’t leave it alone, she is very worried. Claudia and Monday were really close to the one of the teachers in 6th grade, Miss Valentine, so when looking for Monday, Claudia decides to ask her if she had heard anything. Miss Valentine knows how much effort Monday puts into school, so she was very shocked to find out she wasn't going. Miss Valentine tries to help Claudia but doesn't find out much. Then one day Claudia sees Monday’s older sister and tries to ask her questions, but she just ignores her and runs away. Claudia was trying to make new friends, but it was so hard when the one friend she's known her entire life is missing. Claudia continues looking for Monday until one day…

I loved so many things about this book, but my favorite part was the mystery aspect that the book had and how it always left me thinking. How would the problem get solved? What would happen next, would something good happen or something bad? The book always had this intrigue, it always left you questioning one way or another and that's a feeling that I love when reading. The author Tiffany D. Jackson was also very creative; she made this book very detailed, so much so that I almost felt like I was in the book when reading it. You could feel each detail and you felt like you were there getting affected by each character’s problems. In my opinion it would be a great movie. The characters had their ups and downs, but overall, it was just a creative and enjoyable book to read. You get to learn about Claudia and Monday families, what their lives were like through all the good and bad times. I would recommend this book to girls in middle school or high school because in my opinion it would most interest them, or really anyone who likes a mystery type book. I really liked reading Monday's Not Coming by Tiffany Jackson it was a great book and I definitely think you should read it!
